Financial aid

Cost should never be the barrier

Oakland Strokes wants every young person who is interested in rowing to be able to row. The Scholarship Committee grants aid based on need, and every application is confidential.

Aid is aimed at families earning less than double the Bay Area median household income, and special circumstances are always considered, so apply even if you are not sure you qualify.

Apply before you register. The committee will email you registration instructions once your application has been reviewed. Please do not register or pay while an aid request is pending.

The application has two steps. First, fill out the form below. Second, email or submit your tax return (that process will be explained on a screen after you fill out the form).

The information you submit goes straight to the Scholarship Committee at aid@oaklandstrokes.org and is not stored on this website.

The rower

The program you are requesting aid for. If you are not sure, pick the closest one and say so in your statement below.

Parent or guardian

Where the Scholarship Committee will write back.

Whole dollars, no cents and no dollar sign. For example, 62000.

Second parent or guardian

Only if your rower has two. Leave it blank otherwise.

Whole dollars, no cents and no dollar sign.

Your request

As a share of the program fee. A percentage is fine, and so is a dollar amount or a sentence.

Written by a parent or guardian. Anything you would like the committee to know about your situation. Please say whether your finances have changed since your last tax return. You can paste this in from somewhere else.

Where you could pitch in. The volunteer pool is what keeps the club running, and nothing here affects your aid decision.

After you send this there is one more step: emailing your tax return. We will show you how on the next screen.

Questions about aid, registration, or anything on this form: aid@oaklandstrokes.org. More about fees and what a season includes is on Register.
